I really enjoyed your reflections through a conversation with your step-daughter. I cannot imagine how to live in this world and try to reduce harm to all living creatures and Mother Earth herself without art and music and babies. They nurture the hope to step into the very uncertain future humans have created.

Great reflections on the importance of ‘keeping on keeping on’ regardless of worry and bleak thoughts for the future. Happy new year to you all with more hope for 2022.

Ah yes, that pesky old "backdrop of worry about the future"—I know it well. Thank you for writing about it so well and so boldly.

Well written! Both of my adult nephews (they will always be kids in my mind) have children now. Jack, born a year ago in July and Colin who was born this September. Both young families are focusing on their child and I believe that is what is keeping them looking to the future in a positive way. I always struggle with my weight and will now focus on becoming more fit for the sake of my grand nephews. Sad I’m not doing it for myself but hey at least I’m starting to do something worth while instead of saying “what difference does it make”. I won’t be going to the lengths that you are Megan (good for you!!!!) but slow small changes.

Thank you for always writing and inspiring me with your stories. I don’t know how you keep up as I get tired just listening to all you get accomplished. I feel like such a slug compared to you.

Wishing you and Brian all the best.

Difficult times and yes, for me the hardest part is keeping my daughter and son optimistic about the future. Thanks for your thoughts, Megan.
