I went down a rabbit hole via Oliver Burkeman, via Austin Kleon and discovered you. Drive Your Plow is my current favorite book so I knew you were a kindred spirit! I love your outlook and appreciate the recipe. Thank you; will be tuning in and sharing.

Books are such an indicator aren't they! I just read House of Day, House of Night- an earlier work by Tokarchuk - and can never get over her ability to capture the history of place in the smallest details.

Thanks so much for this post. I love your comments on witnessing, song, poetry, and art in general. The lichen photo is beautiful too!

Megan, thank you for the kind words in your thoughtful piece When the Song Breaks. I know it dealt with a lot more than my performance, but it made me feel better about that day. Also, I'm looking for healthy recipes (dealing with some liver problems) so I'm going to give this a shot! All the best, Rodney

Sometimes as performers, we forget that with the audience, we are all in this together. Glad you stumbled across the piece :)

Those gorgeous mushrooms, physically bringing (as you do too of course) beauty, art and life coming right through the middle of everything happening. Thanks for sharing !

We read Olga Tokarczuk’s book Drive my Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. Weirdly wonderful author and evocative of my Polish roots. Thanks for your most relevant musings Megan!

Isn't she amazing? Definitely one of our best literary "discoveries" of the last decade. Drive my Plow was the first one we read, followed by Primeval. Books of Jacob was a slog and I didn't finish - but everything else I've loved!
